I believe in fashion it’s the top and the toes that matter, everything
in the middle is a phase. So that is why it is essential for one and all
to focus on these. In common man’s parlance, get shoes and make up
right from day to night. Everyone must follow this, not just people in
the world of fashion.
Meet Misha Bains, 28, a business development manager at a media company. She strikes deals and signs agreements all the time. She does not watch TV or read fashion magazines, but she has the recipe right. For her, power dressing is not about crisp shirts or trousers but a pair of jeans and a formal top. The clincher, however, is her shoes. She is very particular and opts for 2-3 inches high heels because she knows the right shoes suggest that she means business!
What’s power make up for her? Well great skin most definitely. She washes and moisturises her skin thrice a day. The rest includes a liner, kajal and lipstick. She swears by the kajal, “The kajal is essential as it defines my eyes while simultaneously lightens my dark circles.”
Once done with work and as her chill time commences, her heels are replaced by ballerinas, fit flops or flip flops. When she is out the lipstick is replaced with gloss and the kajal by masacara. Mascara takes precedence over kajal, it makes her eyes look fresh.
Gauri Sagar Kohli, is the Head Luxury Division at PR Pundit. She knows that there is a distinct fashion divide when it comes to day and night. “For shoes during the day I love TOD’s jellies and my haute favourite for the night is the GEO PUMP from Louboutin.”
She is beauty wise and unlike Misha has a different routine for the day and night. “My 5-minute make up for the day is my favourite Bobbi Brown Long wear gel liner, mascara, corrector and gloss. For the night it is Smokey eyes for me taught by make-up expert Eliano from Bobbi Brown, she gave me a simple tip - blend blend blend as blend is your friend!”
So whatever your routine, remember to make sunscreen your base and take off all your eye make-up before you sleep. It is important that when you begin and end the day, your skin is clean and moisturised.
